Jims operation

So the day started bright and early because, you know, only the early german catches the compressor belt…

It was not too bad, apart from the 7000% humidity and 56 degrees in the shade, i was sweating so much that the sweat dropped of my nose while talking to people.

But finding the belt was only 1-2 hours or so.

Mecánico turned out to be a bit more of a mission.

While waving the belt like a lunatic this is what i (and google translate ) came up with:

„no podemos conectarnos al compresor porque está roto. mi idea es poner la correa y no conectar el compresor. así puedo conducir hasta que encuentre un nuevo compresor. ahora estoy buscando un mecanico“

Heh, apparently that wasnt good enough.I mean people understood but did not male me any less suspicious or no mechanics had time or simply didnt wanna do it.

So now its around 9am and i went back to the hotel pour cherchez la femme! After her morning sporting routine she jumped in the lake and retreated to a fan cooled restaurant while writing her mails. So i let her be in her Guatemalan spa holiday and kept on my mission. All that time in deep chats with my new bro Hugo. I cant wait to meet the dude!

After having harassed our hotel lobby guy, who also could not help me with a mecanic i went to Los Amigos. So Los Amigos is a little hostel run by a german. Hugo told me that this guy is well connected and could probably help me out. And it seemed true because the place he runs is exceptionally nice and has a good vibe but unfortunately he wasnt there.

Go there if ever in Flores, good vibage and good coffee too. Apparently he also runs a restaurant ,Maracuja, so maybe he was hiding there. I didnt find him but a dutch mate of his, whos name i immediately forgot, sorry mate. He got me in touch with his mechanic though , who promised he would meet me at 1pm.

So i couldnt follow Hugos restaurant recommendation because the restaurant would also open at 1pm. So quick, cheap and yummy snack with Lu.

The lake around the little Island in the middle of Flores is nice but the water is really hot. Also i do not have the feeling that it is the cleanest water in the world but hey, its water. So swim it was. The island is very touristy but very nicely kept and it is perfect for strolling after swimming or eating or both.

And what do you know at 1pm my phone rang. We are coming. Boom, the mecánico and our dutch mate arrived we open the car and all hell breaks loose. When it rains here , it rains a lot, hence rainforest 🥸

The not so good news is we cant connect the belt without connecting it to the compressor. The good news is the mecánico is cool and knows what he is doing. So he took the compressor home and will try to adjust it to our needs. Which basically means he will flatten the part that is broke so we can attach the belt without the belt breaking again. So we can drive to Guatemala City, get a new one there, meet Hugo and see what happens next.

As you can probably tell , i am in an extremely good mood, Hugo is cool as, i love my wife and the mood swings of the weather only add to the excitement rather then slowing it down ! The rain is super nice and Jim will be up and running sooner or later!

Now that we are all updated ill get to the Tical nature post.
