As for usual we left quite early. After around an hours drive or so we passed San Vicente. It did not matter how much we talked about it… and still now i read San Vincente.

So big shout outs to the mighty Vincent for successfully having brainwashed me without me even noticing !
Most of the pictures we took by the road we delete rather quickly again but these ones we want to remember. Big ass Mango trees that carry a Mango type that we do not know the name of.

The turn ruby red when they get ripe and are insanely yummy!

This one , San Miquel, was with us for the last part of the road . I am happy Lu decided not to climb also him, we talked about it briefly but it was very super hot and not enough clouds to hide under. A beauty though!

I don’t remember the one behind us and you see so many volcanos here that i cant be bothered to find out its name. Also a beast though. We love it when they hide behind these HUGE cloud formations. Titanic forces everywhere.

We then got to El Cuco.

Where we spend the rest of the day reading

Taking in the scenery.

and hunting for curiosities on the beach.

So these „volcanos“ are made by a type of mantis shrimp. I have seen some hunting underwater but there is absolutely no chance to see them on land. But when you look at their borrows , again i cant help to notice the similarities to actual volcanos and flowers.

To me it is undeniable that there is certain reoccurring patterns in nature that are so obvious it makes you wonder what rules or force is behind it. Atombombs looking like mushrooms or certain types of jellyfish. Mantis shrimp borrows looking like volcanos or Edelweiss. Or flight paths looking like neural networks. Just to name but a few examples.
Ernst Haeckels „Kunstformen der Natur“ or „ Art Forms in Nature“ is unbelievably nice to look and also proof that i am not on LSD at the moment. Check it out!
I do not want to drift into the spiritual realm prematurely because there is certain „forms“ or patterns that follow mathematical algorithms. Not saying that the once excludes the other but here is a very obvious example of the Mandelbrot set.

If you do not know what the Mandelbrot set is, i suggest you research it or download some sort of fractal zoom app. Its is mindbogglingly interesting.
Enough blabbering.
After the sun went down the heavy tropical rains started again.
So early night and an early start.Lu back into full energy again and me having an about 3 entire nests of bees in my butt , knowing that Nicaragua is just around the corner we left early again.
But not before going for a swim, a walk and a run on the beach.

There was two guys thumping the ground with some sort of tube device.

When i approached i realized they were „thumping“ the mantis shrimps out of the sand. I asked them and of course they let me take some pics.

Some other very skilled fishermen were also at it.

Frangipani everywhere. I love these not only for their smell. They remind me of Bali and thus of my little chicken of a daughter. Not so little anymore, but chicken nevertheless!

A couple of slugs in their morning routine

Maybe more than just a couple.

And a couple of nice flowers on the way back to the hotel.

And back in the car because Nicaragua it was!
Turned out it was not that close but more about it in the next post.
