There is many things to do here but one of the funner ones, is to take a car and go to Guatapé. It is around 70 km from Medellín.
Before Iberian conquistadors reached the area in the 16th century, this territory was inhabited by indigenous groups, some controlled by a named cacique named Guatape. In his honor, the town was named after him. The name “Guatapé”, comes from the Quechuqa language, related to “stones and water”
The way there is already quite nice, covered in small flowerstores and food stands.

You also drive by El Peñol which has many mysteries surrounding him and while being a big fan of mystical stories i believe that here, unfortunately, we are just looking at a big 70milion year old rock.

Then you get into beautiful Guatapé.

There is flowers everywhere.

And while i wanted to pack activities in and around Medellín in one post , i realized the Guatapé pics are nice and it will get its own post. But thats a good thing because it will leave more space for our two friends 🙂
And while i could write bad things about the tourism in Guatapé, i will refrain from it this time because the place is really beautiful. (But i might hint at it with one picture. )

So a quick and very yummy chorizo artesanal with yucca and papa on the way back.
