Guadalajara

Guadalajara, Guadalajara. Say it back and forth two times. Its a magic chant like Abra Abra Cadabra. And so is the city.

Imagine you drive for hours and all you see is fruit and agave and barren mountains and suddenly there is this massive beast in the middle of nothing that is Guadalajara Guadalajara. It is HUGE eventhough it has only has an estimated population of around 1.9 milion.

Quick fun fact on the side ( just because we talked with Santi about it) There is 3.7m Mexicans living in Los Angeles County. So eventhough Guardalajara is the second biggest city in Mexico it is only the 3rd biggest by Mexican inhabitants.

Anyways, we decided to go directly to Tlaquepaque because we slipped into a new time zone and realized we have an hour more before sundown.

Tlaquepaque is a historic district of Guadalajara that everyone who knew we were going recommended to us.

First thing that happened in Tlaquepaque : Lu and i tumbled into a church where we crashed a full blown Tlaquepaque wedding. Weirdly enough they let us in, so in we went.

That sight was just too great so we also wanted a pic with the chico !

Slowly but surely the day took it’s toll on us as you can very clearly see here.

or here

But we are in Tlaquepaque. So we gotta check Tlaquepaque out. Try to say Tlaquepaque four times in a row without breaking your tongue…

As the sun went down we realized we do not have a place to sleep yet so we went back to the car and googled a hotel i will not be posting pictures of. We just dont want to remember it.

Really quick shower and back to the centro historico because if you just pause for a second on the bed , Guadalajara is over for the day.

If we dont eat something soon we will die.

But there is so much to see that its hard to focus on finding a Taqueria. And went we passed the church from before it suddenly illuminates with the story of Guadalajara and some good old Mexican propaganda. Sounds and music from all the sides too. Loud, very loud. Quite the spectacle:

So we found the next best place to get a quick taco where i am also finishing this post.

Even Lu is tired.

What a day..
