Jim is in pain

Tical was AMAZING, but the post will have to wait because this just happened:

We drove to the next mechanic, unfortunately the parts we need are not available.. Compressor is busted and the belt is ripped.

Talking to one of Steves friends here in Guatemala. Lets see what happens 🤞

UPDATE:

Steves friend Hugo had a mechanic come to El Chal in 5-10 minutes. For Guatemalan standards thats insane!

If we were in Mexico we would have spare parts in 30 mins. Problem is, that in Guatemala Toyota is the big thing. So it might be difficult to find the specific parts we need. But we could have Steve send one from Mexico or we can maybe find one in Guatemala city.

First mission is to get the car towed to Flores. Hugo organized us a dude who will come soon . We will stay there tonight and check all the options.

Gracias Hugo!!

Never a dull day. Especially since we had six hours of Tikal earlier today!

UPDATE :

Either we are going to a Hotel in Flores or to a Mayan Gangbang 🙀 Lets see what happens.

UPDATE:

We are in a nice and cheap hotel in Flores. It seems like Hugo knows everyone in Guatemala and sorted us with a better rate for the Hotel room. Which in turn means Steve sorted us again. Thanks to both !

We are absolutely no experts in all matters cars and engines but from what we understood today is that the ac compressor is broken. Replacing it will probably be hard but i will try to find one tomorrow morning. The alternative , from what we understand , is that you could technically connect a belt to only the engine cooling thing, leaving the broken ac compressor alone. That way we could at least drive to Guatemala city and get a new compressor there.

Now its shower and Tikal post time !

  1. Seems like a weird curse of Quetzalcoatl is still active when unsuspecting gringos try to unveil the mysteries of Tikal: 46 years ago, when I visited Tikal with my two pals Bernard and Henri, our car also broke down during our approach to Tikal, as a victim of the percussions of the road’s heavy gravel. We did not have to wait long for the neccessary spare parts: Wishing you the same!!!
