San Salvador

Nothing much to write home about.

We were sitting on the rainy beach pondering what we could do next. Rain season here is usually not this wet. I does rain every day but not constantly like it had been the last couple of days. Maybe the remnants of a hurricane, maybe the signs of something much bigger and more significant , who knows.

San Salvador was only a 30 minute drive up north so might as well check it out. We ended up driving well over an hour because of road blocks and traffic.

San Salvador is exceptionally strange. It is much dirtier then ie Guatemala City, there is tons but i mean TONS of armed police and military about and it does not matter how much you want to like it, it just is not very pretty. But we went for a stroll.

When you turn left from the picture above you see a massive building site for the new library:

So with the “Assistance” of China. Mmhh, no comment. It is quite mind boggling how strong Chinas influence in all of Central America is. Look in any shop, any supermarket or any politicians pocket and it is quite evident. I am not sure this is a healthy progression. Not because i have anything against China. Rather because : Solo el Pueblo salva al Pueblo.

If you want a little more political incorrectness, i am your man! Lots of people want to know whats going on with crypto and when they should buy and when they should sell. And because El Salvador is the first country to have adopted bitcoin as actual legal tender (which is ridiculous in my mind) this seems like a good time. My answer is and will stay the same. Do not trade it if you are not a trader. See it as a long term investment or do not buy it. Bitcoin is cheap at 30k, it was cheap at 50k and it was cheap at 2k and very much so at 13k. The BIG secret is : Nobody knows what is going to happen. But i like looking in the past first before looking in the future.

This is what i am looking at now and will continue to look at in the future.

If you do not understand it , please do not ask me.

Back to topic. We lasted exactly one hour before retreating back to our little bay to hang in hammocks and read our books.

Here the last bonus pic of the most beautiful church we have ever seen.

Oh and last bonus bonus pic, one of my favorite new discoveries: A paper straw wrapped in plastic!

Government logic at its finest !

  1. All that president Bukele has achieved with adopting bitcoin as legal tender is accelerating the dollarization of Salvador’s poor economy and driving it into a Chinese debt trap: not so good. On the positive side: Lu is truly beaming in front of the Teatro Nacional!
