Jaco, Playa Hermosa, La Fortuna

We woke up in our little cargo container constructed Airbnb with a bit of a hangover.

Playa Hermosa is nice if you can surf big waves. But thats it, no pics because we went there to swim and left the phones. Apparently there is turtles too but we did not see any.

Jaco the city just north of it is a true dumpster. Abandoned hotels, prostitution, cheap beer and burger joints make up the most part of it.

This pic sums up the vibe of the place quite well. If that is not enough, Lus facial expression in on of Jacos restaurant might tell you more.

It might have been the rain, it might have been the hangover, we do not want to be unfair and we really did give it a try but we really did not like Jaco. Actually, we could not really believe we were in Costa Rica at all.

So we retreated in our little cargobox and made onion zucchinis once again. Happy campers! In the night the sky illuminated by lightning for a good 30 seconds or so. We cuddled up , watched the Mummy and decided to leave the next day.

We needed Pura Vida vibes again, so we searched up the closest national park. The drive up from the coast into the mountains was beautiful!.

And after a good 3 hours or so we saw a pretty massive sign that things would get better for us.

La Fortuna is the last town before the national park Volcano Arenal. Covered in souvenir shops and tour guides it was a very touristy but a welcome change after Jaco. So we went for a little stroll.

And i know i have mentioned him before but this is what you call a “Steilvorlage” in German. So shout outs to fratello dottore again!

And here comes something that i absolutely loved because Lu usually gives me shit for browsing the souvenir shops. She needed a present for someone, so THIS is where she stopped the car. Holding the hands in front of your face does not make it go away dear wifey , hahahaha!

We quickly got what was needed and saw this on the way out.

Quick retreat into our volcano lodge, defrosted camarones again and early to bed because the park was waiting for us in the morning.
